The spring season is fully underway in Key West, with flocks of college students inundating our island and breezy winds becoming more the rule than the exception. As always the island is a busy buzz of events and activities which have been keeping us busy. We also have been receiving a few northern visitors with more on the way and trying to keep up with our crazy schedules.
Kathy & Carolyn
It has been an especially busy time for Kathy with two major events for the preschool in the past month. First was the annual preschool coop art show, which was opened up to the general public for the first time. The kids had been busy working on artwork which was offered up for sale as a benefit for the school. It was a big success and a lot of fun.

The other event was the annual spring fair, which is a huge undertaking and the largest single fundraising source for the school. Thankfully the weather was perfect for the event and it was a great day. There were all sorts of rides, games and activities for kids at the fair, which was held at Bayview Park. Of the many spring fairs that I have attended, it seemed as well organized and successful as any I’d seen. Kathy was once again playing the role of Easter Bunny and everyone seemed to have a good time. The entire co-op board, staff and parents deserve kudos for the event, especially spring fair chairperson Erin who went above and beyond in her efforts.

While those events dominated our landscape recently, we have managed to do a ton of additional things as well. Kathy hosted a birthday party for our friend Ally and we attended another party for our friend Audrey from the UU fellowship. We also went to art openings for our friends, C.J. Groh (photography) and for Carrie Fecca (tiled pottery)- coming home with a beautiful huge new tiled planter.

In addition, we made it out to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day at the two best Irish Pubs in Key West, Finnegan’s Wake and Shanna Key. The party at Finnegan’s was massive as usual, with the street closed off and a plethora of people. Shanna Key was somewhat more subdued, but their party had been going on all weekend.
