Rick & Rick
Rick
Every now and again, there is an event that is so interesting or outstanding that it deserves its own blog post. The 5Oth birthday party extravaganza for our good friend Rick Keith is certainly worthy. Held on Saturday night after the Key West Holiday parade aboard the amazing Paradigm Ship Houseboat that he shares with friend and cohort Steve King, the party was an amazingly original and eccentric gala which couldn’t have represented the individual who is Rick Keith any better. Perhaps because the theme of the party was for guys, dressing up as a past or future version of “Rick” and for girls it was to come dressed as a sexy computer scientist.

Coming directly from the holiday parade, we did not dress up, but a number of people did- adding another layer of frivolity to the mix. The party was a huge success by any standards, food and drink flowed freely and the police only made 3 appearances during my time there. The crowd was in a great mood and the vibe was similar to the Key West of 15 years ago. I thought I was there late..er…early, departing at about 3 AM Sunday morning, dragging my friend Colin home to sleep one off rather than allowing him to drive or operate his dingy to his boat, but when I left the party was still in full swing with the DJ on level 2 still spinning for the crowd. Turns out, I left way before the party’s conclusion at about 11 AM Sunday when the final guests had either left or passed out.
The photos included here fail to truly capture the lunacy that was ricky 5.0, but hopefully they will entertain or at the least provide a reminder for those in attendance of who and what occurred. The whole thing is a little bleary in my mind, but I know it was a great time. Happy Birthday Ricky!! Here’s to many, many more!
