The Top of the Roller coaster
The absolute busiest, most hectic yet wildly enjoyable and entertaining portion of the year is upon us. With Goombay and the start of Fantasy Fest here, our calendar is pretty much full from now through January with one event after another, the Parrothead convention, powerboat races, the Miami Book Fair, Thanksgiving and the holiday season and on through the Key West Literary Seminar in January, we truly are at the top of a roller coaster that will take us on a wild, exciting and fun ride through the next few months.

Before we get started, Kathy & I enjoyed a relatively quiet weekend during which we celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary. It is amazing how quickly time has flown by since our wedding. It has been a wonderful journey and I want to thank Kathy for being such an amazing partner, friend and wife.
With Fantasy Fest looming, after much feet dragging, we have finally gotten around to working on our float and costumes for the big event. Once again this year, we will be joining our amazingly creative friend Rick Keith on his annual entry in the big parade. This year our theme is a militaristic one, we will be joining the army of love and implementing our “Weapons of Mass Affection”. If you are interested in joining us, check out the link below for more info.

Other than that it has been pretty quiet this week, we did manage to get out to the Full Moon Howl on Duval Street and we attended the opening reception for the new retrospective exhibit for the legendary Key West Folk artist, Mario Sanchez, at the Customs House. Kathy took her students at the Preschool to the Pumpkin patch as the fall season has kicked into full gear, here in the Keys.

The quiet won’t last long, as soon we will be rushing headlong into the madness that is Fantasy Fest and beyond. While I tend to hold on for dear life, Kathy is one of those people who raise their hands high in the air as the coaster plunges downhill, either way at the end we always marvel that we made it through and get in line to ride again.
